The SN74Z2K outputs a speed signal that is required by 1985-1987 TBI truck factory ECMs. The speed signal was originally created by a photo switch located in the mechanical speedometer of a 1985-1985 TBI truck dash. If you don’t have the original (mechanical) speedometer, then there is no way to get a speed signal to the ECM without the use of the SN74Z2K.
